Our time at UD was an exciting journey and we appreciate how much each of our faculty mentors invested into us individually and as a group.
Thank you!! Also, shoutout to Jan Baty who found us in her Alexander Technique class and has continued to support and encourage us ever since! We love new compositions!
A fellow UD student, Taylor Champion-Strickland, wrote an original composition entitle SLR (Sea Level Rise) which musically portrays the rising sea level; one of the effects of climate change. We had the opportunity to play through SLR while on zoom with Taylor. It was great to work directly with the composer and be able to ask questions and provide helpful feedback.
We are so excited to share our performance of Libertango by Astor Piazzolla, arranged by Jeff Scott, and brought to fame by the Imani Winds. Imani Winds is one of the most recognized woodwind quintets of the 21st century and we’ve been listening to their recordings for quite some time!!! We are so happy to finally have an opportunity to play this fun piece! The audio engineering was done by John Fredenberg and the video production was done by Lynn Moncilovich. In honor of Star Wars Day, we put together this little video. Special Thanks to Brooke for arranging this theme, John Palmer for recording us and allowing us to use the green screen studio, and Lynn Moncilovich for editing! This is the way. The US Army Field Band Quintet visited campus to work with us in-person,
We received lots of helpful feedback and encouragement as we head into the final weeks of preparation for our concert. We appreciate the UD School of Music for allowing guests to visit campus and Lynn Moncilovich for arranging the masterclass. We were happy to share some of our favorite recordings with the members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Also, we are getting pretty good at zoom presentation if anybody is interested.
We've had a busy Spring 2021 semester. Tyler, Joshua, and Tracy were able to present their solo recitals in-person on April 11, 18, and 25 respectively.
The UD School of Music gave us a week off from classes this semester so we could focus on our well-being and finish the semester with renewed focus. We were able to spend some extra time working with Jan Baty who has coached us in Alexander Technique. We focused on ease of movement, release of tension, and shared energy. Also, Jan brought a bit of her skeleton, Esther, with her for demonstrating.
